Developing a Textile Brief..
Working on a live project for shop 'Made in Jesmond' Creating our own product/product range in our own specialist area but following the concept that 'Made in Jesmond' follows.
' Something old made into something beatiful'
I have found my inspiration from the fascinating natural form living deep beneath the sea looking at texture, pattern and structure of marine life and underwater habitats such as sea urchins, sea anemones, seaweed and coral, focusing on their embellished and decorative surfaces. Inspired towards wearable art/textile neck piece which I want to focus on for my product, as I love bringing in fabric stitch to my work. I have decided to have all fabric based with decorative embellishment through fabric manipulation and a range of sewing techniques. Also I want to feature a vintage style running through my approach as this is my personal style and interest.
Here are few Designers who have inspired me.
Camille Lescure
Knowing I have looked into Camille Lescure before I just cant get enough of her striking wearable art pieces, Inspired by her approach to structure and shape around the neck line I love how she captures the detailed surfaces having all elements of detail.
Gibbous Fashions
Excited by the different ranges of designs by Gibbous Fashion, using a variety of fabric manipulation, stitch and combining together to give inspiring effects with using different textures of fabrics. I will take this approach to develop in my designs and explore the range of techniques through experimentation.
Jayne Hewison
Looking again at how fabric manipulation can bring textures, shape and structure to the piece. I feel it captures pattern and detail within the fabric showing multi layering. Adding bead work gives a second approach to detail
